Hi, I am newbie to the world of Blu-ray and have a question. I am thinking about getting a Sharp BD-HP20U player. I have an older Toshiba rear projection tv that only has component inputs, no HDMI. When playing a blu-disc does this player output 1080 over component outputs? I know it will not upscale standard DVDs over component, but I am talking blu-ray discs. Thanks, Chasie

I bought my brother this player to play on his Mitsubishi 1080i CRT. He hooked the video up via component and the audio with 5.1 analog outs. It does play in 1080i and looks and sounds amazing.
A quick sidebar, after messing around a bit with the Samsung 1400 and the Sony 300, the Sharp seems to load a bit quicker and is less finicky than those other two.

Every BD and HD-DVD player outputs 1080i over component, as long as the disc does not have the ICT flag. So far, no US releases have the ICT flag.
