I've read that Hitachi produces the best LCD panel technology available (said to put Samsung and Sony's S-PVA panel in the shade) and now it's incorporated 120 HZ technology. This new set was unveiled at CES last week.

Here's a customer review of the previous Hitachi 37" set, the 37HDL52 with the same panel.

I always wanted to get a plasma TV for my bedroom. But they are just a bit too big. LCD has the right sizes but not the picture performance. I have scoped the field in the last 7 months and become frustrated with what I had seen until I came across this set. This is probably the best LCD in terms of technology and yet has not gained the popularity it deserves. Its Super-in-plane switching LCD technology is obviously the main reason why it has faster response time, wider viewing angles ( I can see the images parallel to TV almost as well as in front of it.) and solid black levels.
What is becoming more and more annoying is that the data shown on the spec sheet of many so-called popular LCD makers such as Sharp, Samsung, Sony and LG just simply cannot be backed up by what I have seen with my pair of naked eyes. For example, most of these LCD boast a whopping 1000:1 to 4000:1 contrast ratio. In reality, it is not even close. None of these TV sets can display the subtle details in any dark objects such the textures of dark clothing and shadows of trees. All I see is this fuzzy darkness. I am an engineer. This turns me off big time. But this 37" Hitachi LCD has the best grayscale representation, by far.
Hitachi should spend some money advertising to let more people become aware of its superior LCD technology performance. When they do that, they don't have to beef up on the spec sheet, all they need to do is tell people to do a side-by-side comparison. ...
