Just ordered a SVS subwoofer with the two newly designed NSD drivers. Will post a listening review in about a week for all those SVS fans and anyone interested in the new drivers.

Are you going to be comparing it to anything? Do you have any test equipment? Just wondering.
Saw this at Audioholics. How many forums do you plan plan to post your review to?
Review can be subjective. Looking forward to your listening expereince.
Hi,

just wondering if there's any problem and /or restriction in sharing same ideas on different forums. Just wondering...

Cheers / Avliner.

Yes, there is a restriction. It is written in the Internet Ethical Guidelines (IEG) under Exuberance:

And I quote: "One who is so enthusiastic about a new (or forthcoming) purchase must contain the urge to publish subjectively biased reports on various similar internet outlets. Such over enthusiastic reporting always concludes with a 'big thumbs up' or 'much improved' rating and only serves to further reiniforce the money spent on the poster's actual purchase. So, since we already know what the conclusion will be, publish it once (at a site of your choosing) prior to actually trying the piece out.....I assume you have the old model to compare it to (as you are intending to post the effect of the new drivers). But [probably]you don't have an old sub, it reallly doesn't affect what the conclusion will be."

Thebland,

thanks for the prompt reply.

Cheers (and enjoy your wine!) / Avliner.
I view these boards as a community of friends. A place where we get together, get to know each other, and learn from each other. When someone gets a new toy and posts the exact same "review" of it to several boards, it seems more like an advertisement or an self-glorifing effort; rather than an attempt to develope community discussion. Further, it becomes very difficult to follow a thread, because half the conversation is somewhere else.

I don't have a problem with people participating in multiple forums. Each one is a little different, so all is good. But to me, it is not proper to post the exact same thing to multiple forums. If you have a good thread going at one place, people will come from where ever to discuss it. There is no reason to post everywhere, scatter the discussion and information, and never really generate community.

Of course, community has kind of been ruined here in the subwoofer and speaker forums.

Finally, this post violates AVS rules. Refer to the sticky if you are unfamiliar with them. David Bott states his reasons there, and I agree with him.

So in thinking along these lines we ask...Please No More Threads such as....

"I just bought "blank" and they are the best"

"I have my "blank" on order"

"Another Happy "blank" customer"

I am an SVS owner, so don't think I am slamming the sub.

There are plenty of objective and subjective pro and consumer reviews of the ISD driver. The only thing that can add to that now would be comprehensive objective test measurements of the NSD driver and subjective blind listening tests of the ISD vs NSD with all other factors being equal.

If you are willing and able to take on either of these tasks, I await your results. If not, then I agree with Ryan, this is just more owner enthusiasm. No offence.
Thanks for the interesting, educational and immediate feedback. I do not plan on posting a review that is truly objective. I do not have any test equipment, or the previous model with the ISD drivers to do a comparison.

1)I was planning on playing it with some samples of various kinds of music and movies to give a regular joe type of review.

2)Looking at how deep it would go to my ear, the kind of output I could give it without audible LF distortion and if it seemed to do better with music or movies.

3)I am curious how it will integrate with my Paradigm speakers too. Also wanted to compare it to a PW-2200 that I had listened to in an area audio store at length.

I visited the factory near Youngstown when I picked it up and it had impressed me. The kind of success SVS is having without selling in retail stores and with limited marketing is astonishing. Lastly, I just wanted to try one out first hand.

I will limit my review to one site, this one. I will try to keep my enthusiasm under control.

Sounds like a plan. Your review will be a good read.

How can you make any objective comments with no test equipment? You can't even calibrate or optimise the subwoofer in your system without the ability to measure it's response.

Which is why the OP said ... "I do not plan on posting a review that is truly objective."

Psyopwak ... Have fun with this. You will be giving your listening impressions, which really seems to annoy some people. It is ironic, considering this an audio hobby, that people don't want to read about what something sounds like.

Personally, I am looking forward to your review, ESPECIALLY because it is your ears doing the reviewing.

And if the sound knocks you out, be exuberant. :)

I want to hear your comments too since I ordered the same sub.

He stated upfront that he was not using measuring equipment but he was doing it by ear regular Joe style. What's wrong with that? BTW why limit your review to one site and deprive other forums just because someone here doesn't like the fact that you posted on other forums? Good grief!!!!!!!
