review of $1,000 Tekton Lore's Mid Towers

I wanted to add a zone 2 mid towers to my other adjacent room

I decided to buy the Tekton Lore's for $1,000
They had good reviews but the biggest selling point for me was the ability to paint them any color you want

I wanted these speakers to match my back Florida wall, which is an Ocean Blue by Sherwin Williams ....basically a Teal color
(See pics)

The big draw was the modest profile and Gold Audax Tweeter

I haven't listened that much to them but here is my initial review

They are very neutral, detailed, clear speakers that handle the mids/highs very good
They do lack in the low end
If you have subs not an issue
I'm impressed with their ability to sound so perfect like Revels in detail and clarity.

I use the old Emotiva T2s as a reference point.
The T2s offer more low end and Dynamics
But the Lore's surprisingly handle higher volumes easier. Their sound stage is not as big as T2s but I really think the Lore's are simply meant to be refined kinda like drinking a whiskey on rocks with a cigar. The T2s, crack open a 6 pack and enjoy.

No winners or losers just different speakers

With all the speakers I've listened to these are the most refined. They are baby Revels for less.

Enjoy

Thanks for sharing, they look very nice. I've never had the opportunity to hear Tektons but would like to. They have a whole lot of models now with some interesting designs. I was eyeing the Mini-Lore's for my bedroom, they look very efficient so I could maybe power them with a small amp.
those sure are nice looking. if they have revel type sound that's a big win..:)

Well priced and a more conventional design which I'm glad to hear you enjoy.

So the claimed 30hz extension is a bit optimistic?

Yes I would say in upper 40s to mid 50s if I had to guess

But for my needs it's ok I'm simply using them to fill the other room with music don't really need bass

Yes they are super nice. Only 25 bucks to upgrade any color you want.

It looks like you've gone all in on Tekton, but be careful--statements like that could potentially be grounds to revoke your AVS membership card. ;)

I gotta say I'm kind of intrigued by their high efficiency designs. There's been some questions that maybe the sensitivity ratings are inflated, but even if its closer to 90-92, it's still similar to doubling the power for a typical 2-way in the 87-89 range. I've read many user impressions describe them as very direct and open & live sounding with a lot of punch. I imagine that difference from the common, lower sensitivity hi-fi speaker might be something of a novelty. I wonder if the excitement of that different "flavor" wears off over time.

It would be interesting to compare them to the Zu Dirty Weekend, since they are also a higher efficiency design in the same price range.

Please update us on your impressions as you spend some more time with them.

They have been measured to 40 hz in room response

I looked at Zu DWs
Big problems with them...they only become available like 2-3 times year, you have to check in on a certain date at a certain time.
If you get any other color than black it adds on to the total cost up to $500 more
Performance wise--- I think the Zu's definitely geared to a more musical experience where as the Tekton's are definitely dual application
