I have a question about the M-Audio Revolution, maybe Cliff can answer ? :)

I use both Linux and Windows 98SE. There are drivers for Linux, but I read

that there were no drivers for Windows 98SE. This is the only point that would make me prefer the terratec cards, that are shipped with W98 drivers (even if they work with 5.1 and not 7.1 channels, but this is not important for me).

So will you offer W98 drivers soon ?

And if there are people who use it under Linux, are they happy with it ?

Thanks a lot.

As far as I know there are NO drivers for Win 98.

BUT.... when i first got my REVO I unknowingly installed it

under Win98. It does work because I used it under 98 for about

a week. I am sure there are some 98 specific issues but I don't

know/remember. Maybe someone else does?

Allright, thank you very much.

Actually Linux has become my main OS for me now. I just reboot under Win98 when I have to, for some games.

For the rest I use just Linux, even for playing DVDs, ripping them to divx, and even games that are more and more available now.

I know that the Revolution works with alsa drivers, I think I am going to order it (fed up with my old Sounblaster value !)

Windows ME drivers might work. Windows 98 drivers are no longer supported by Microsoft certification.

You mean, installing WinME drivers on 98 ? I will try that, I just ordered the card. I don't think that Microsoft certification improves anything anyway, since so many certified drivers are bad, e.g. for graphic cards.

Anyway, support is already here under Linux, my first choice.
