RG-62A/U Cable?

318 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  leesweet
I need to hook up an additional DIRECTV receiver to my system. My cousin gave me enough "coax" to make the 85-foot run necessary. However, I noticed that the cable he gave me was labeled RG-62A/U. Does anyone know if this cable will be O.K to use for this purpose or should I go out and buy RG-6 cable? Thanks for any assistance!

I wouldn't use it... it's 93 ohm impedance, and RG-6 is 75. See http://www.connectworld.net/iec/cab-rg62.html That page says it's used on Arcnet networks, a token-bus type.
