I can get dual\\siamese rg6 cable for about 14 cent a foot from someone who bought a huge roll. The only problem is that its not quad shielded.

How critical is quad shielding. The cables will be running underneath my house in a crawl space and go up to the roof, which will have a antenna, a sat dish and powers lines that go into my house.

I sort of doubt that my current cables which are over 10 years old are quad shielded and the picture from my directv is perfect

Any advise?

Hi Danny,

Quad shield will not give you extra gain, but you might reduce some noise if you are near some high power cell towers or routing your coax next to some high voltage electrical wires.

If you want to pick up some extra gain, take a look at RG-11, it is only about 39 cents a foot. You only want to use this for your longest main feed line, since the fittings are about $7 each, compared to less than a buck for RG-6.
