I did a search for "rgbhv and vga and adapter" but the few threads that came back didn't have the info I'm looking for.

Can someone point me to a pinout for BNC RGBHV to VGA pinout?? I just bought 150' of RG6 and have chopped the end off my best (unused) VGA cable and plan to solder the exposed VGA wires to the RG6.

I actually need the colors more than the pin numbers, since I won't see what colors goto what pins on the VGA connector.

Thanks!

Hi Eddie

Here's the pinout of a vga connector:

IBM VGA / SVGA / XGA

1 red

2 green

3 blue

4 ID bit 2

5 Self Test (TTL Ground)

6 red ground

7 green ground

8 blue ground

9 n/c

10 sync ground

11 ID bit 0

12 ID bit 1

13 H sync

14 V sync

15 n/c

ID bit 0 and 1 will need to be grounded as this is how your video card identifies that a monitor is attached.

AFAIK there is no standard color coding for the cable you will probably have to check continuity from the wire to the pin with a meter.

Thanks alot, Warren... I'm hoping to find out which of those wires goto which wires on the RG6 though. It may be a mute request though, as I've asked an e*ay member to end their auction early for an Extron in my area. This would eliminate the need to piece together an RGB to VGA connector.
