Well, I knew it couldn't last forever. My used, burnt-in Panasonic DT-M3050W started to ring/whine tonight. It's starting to increase a bit- not quite on the loud side, but it's getting there.

Is this the end of it? Since it's got burn-in, I don't plan on fixing it. Just the other day I replaced my powerstrip with a newer one with noise-filtering- could that be contributing to it? (I doubt it myself).

Argh. I can't afford to purchase a new display at this point.

Not necessarily dying. Years ago, all the TVs (for example) had this very high pitched tone and it sometimes varied as things moved on the screen. The noise, I think came from the flyback transformer.

My folks had a TV that started doing that. It lasted 10 more years before it died.

I know the tone you mean, this is a bit different. I changed the sync to "INT" from "AUTO" and that seemed to stop it for the moment.
