I received my copy from Warner Bros. on Wednesday and I was blown away. I don't think you could ask for more from this transfer. It is a testament to the film that although I had popped it in just to skim through a few scenes, I ended up watching the entire film. Once again, it is an entirely new experience watching some of these older films in high definition. And thanks to Warner Bros. and AVS readers it cost me a mere $14.36!
Awesome news. Sometimes I worry with older title transfers, but it looks like this is a winner. Can't wait to get mine next week!
I wonder why Mad Max didn't come out first...kinda wierd seeing trilogy releases in non-sequential order. But I think I'll cave and get this when I'm at the store...

Different studios. Warner only has the last 2. The first film is with MGM.

Road Warrior is the best of the trilogy so its no surprise its getting released first.

got it today at frys $17.99 not bad
Watched this over the weekend, and overall it looks really good. There were a few shots that were very soft or just downright ugly though. The shot when Max says "you want to get out of here you talk to me" looked out of focus. Also the scene where Max is carrying the gas out of the encampment at night and the Feral Kid helps him by doing an animal call, the last shot of that scene looks awful. These are very likely source problems though.
Yeah, for the most part this looked DAMN good. I am very happy

I watched this the other night. An all time favorite movie of mine. The BD looks quite good. It's the best we'll see the movie and there's nothing really to complain about all things considered.

larry
Agreed. I doubt this movie will ever look any better, and it looks downright amazing for its age.
