Hi

I am trying to hook up by roku2 and Apple TV 3 to my TV(Kuro PRO-1150) and Sound bar(JVC TH-BA1) and have some questions.

I have wall mounted my TV and soundbar and have a single HDMI(TV IN) and Optical cable(Audio IN) coming to my media cabinet. To hookup the roku2 and apple tv 2 I bought a HDVio switcher ( http://www.amazon.com/HDVio-Optical-Toslink-Switcher-remote/dp/B001QZ8Z8W/ref=cm_rdp_product )


My roku2 and apple tv 2 are hooked up to the HDVio switcher via HDMI-only and I have the HDMI cable from my TV and Optical from my soundbar hooked up to the ourput ports on the switcher. I can get video switching working for both these devices but I cannot get audio working for it.


I have a feeling that the switcher require HDMI and Toslink hooked up together to get audio.


OR


Do I avoid the switcher completely, hook up Roku2 and Apple tv 3 via HDMI to TV and then optical out from the TV to the sound bar?



If this is the case are there any alternative solutions that you would recommend to get this setup going?

Looking at your TV manual, page 68, it states in the notes for the optical out that no signals are output from the optical when signals are input from HDMI. Sorry, not news you wanted to hear I know.


You can try a different switcher such as http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&p_id=5557&seq=1&format=2 which clearly states it outputs via the optical.

have first hand experience with that switcher and it is GREAT!
