Just wondering which would be the best setup.

I have a false ceiling and will be mounting my FP soon. My power strip for all my components will be 10-15' away from where the FP is mounted.

Would it be better to run romex and a plug to the ceiling to plug the FP unit in, or simply run an extension cord from the FP to the power strip?

for option 1, I can see how it may be more "up to code". For option 2 I will have the FP plugged into my surge protector, but running an extension cord in the ceiling may not be up to "code". But, if we do sell, it's easily removed so "code" isn't a big worry. Saftey is, though.

Thanks!

Why not have your cake AND eat it too.

You can run romex to an outlet in the ceiling and put a surge protected outlet in there like this.

This way you meet code and get surge protection.

Good idea!

But I think I'm gonna go the ext cord route and just tape the connection good. :) When it's time to sell, I'll just take it down before the inspection. :)
