OKay I have my room in a room just about completed (4 celing joist left) other than that its a done deal.

Now three walls are block wall, my entrance is a double stud wall I'm in the process of finishing.

One double stud wall is attached to the new floating ceiling, and the other one is kinda just swinging in the breeze right now.

So does a guy put the outside double stud to the original framing, or decouple that too?

If decouple, how?

You can mount that outside wall to the original framing. You have 4 walls and all are decoupled?

Yes sir, 1.5" gap all around, inch on ceiling.

Kinda thinking I should bump the floating ceiling over a inch or two, make it a tad easier to get insulation inbetween old and new.

The two sets of joists can be fairly close. Mine are.

Haha

Yours is the one mine is based off.

You took lots of really good pictures. Probably a job hazard.

So quick question, is it nessasary to make sure the 1" gap gets insulated well?? Just wondering because it's gonna be hard to not compress the insulation in that tight of spot.

Or should a guy just think of the insulation in such a small gap as more of a shock absorber?

I know I'm not gonna make you happy when I say I'm doing double doors too. (just looks better, trust me I framed left side, right side, center, and centered doubles just looks wayy better) Not too worry the plan is to seal right with all the stuff and do the whole airlock thing, as for now depending on what the doors cost the outside wall gets doors first, then inside, ya know budget permitting, maybe do em at same time.

Oh yeah,

How do you make any money giving out all this free advise?
