I have one rotel 1070 and am looking at getting some power hungry towers, and was thinking of getting another 1070 and bridging both of them to make 360w Mono Each.


My question is: Does bridging an amp degrade the sound quality of that amp compared to using it as a standard stereo amp?


I would love to just buy another and do the test myself but i was wondering if anyone has any prior experience with this setup, ty

Bridging does increase distortion. It is said by some to make amps sound harsh and grainy. I did it with two 980s and didn't care for the sound. I ended up using both amps in a vertical bi-amp configuration instead.


Is it possible to trade in the 1070 and pay the difference for a larger amp?

thats what i thought...I'm gonna end up selling it and maybe looking for a used pass 350 for the Revels

Rotel's website says so, to 360 watts here and to 330 watts here .

I have a 1070 bridged. It's running a Revel "Voice" center channel. I think it does a fine job. But I probably wouldn't use 2 RB-1070 bridged to run my mains.
