Can anyone tel me if Rotel designs their own DVD players, or are they rebadged units?

Absolutely - that's why I bought mine. The audio is TERRIFIC. I must say, however, that the image on my Momitsu V880 with DVI connection is superior to that on my beloved Rotel.


By the way, before I purchased the 880 I telephoned Rotel to inquire as to when they would offer a player with DVI output. The rep said they had no plans to do so as they felt it wouldn't make a difference in the quality of the image! Unbelievable......

Sounds like a marketing department answer to me. Most companies won't say when new stuff is coming, as it would cut into sales of their current products. Rotel could very well have a DVI player in the works now, but they'll not likely say a word until it's ready to ship.


My issue with them is the lack of SACD. If/when they ever put out a universal player with DVI out I'll be first in line waving my credit card for one.

I emailed Rotel about 2 months ago asking about both SACD and DVI/HDMI, and received the same answer that there were no plans for either. Too bad. I love my Rotel audio equipment, but I will not buy their DVD player without SACD or DVI/HDMI capabilities.
