Both are good. I'd pick Ref 50 since it is a $3k pre now selling for $2K. The notch equalizer allows you to remove the most annoying bass peak in your room which results in an improved sound for many users. It also has balanced outputs which appeal to some but not me. Its also made in the USA which is an important if not critical factor for me.

The Ref 50 only has an adjustable global crossover. Does the 1068 have individual crossovers for (sets of) speakers?

Hi,

My RSP-1098 does and I have heard that RSP-1068 has the same feature since it uses a lot of the settings available in RSP-1098. I guess we have to wait and see.

Thanks,

Maziar

Cool, I knew that the 1066 didn't, and the the 1098 did, but I wasn't sure about the 1068...
