Bump.

I would like to have input on this as well. I am considering this receiver to drive 4 Ohm speakers as well (Polk LSi9, LSiC, LCi6). I have read a few posts of people using it successfully but I am worried it will not be strong enough for this application. I know about NAD but am concerned with quality issues and on a more basic level think the Rotel looks 100X better.

I was told by Rotel tech support that while some of their customers successfully use this unit to drive 4 Ohm loads they don't officially support it. And if I was to use it for this application to make sure there was at least 4" of free space on all sides. They said the reason it's not supported is the receiver does not have the proper ventilation. I am tempted to go this route as I could add a small 2 channel amp if needed to help with the load but would like to hear from people who have used it with success first.

I ended up calling rotel and they said flat out "no"i should not use 4ohm speakers w/o an amp.In the long run it was a no-no.I ended up getting a B&W setup 603s3 and lcr600 that i couldn't pass up.Will be upgrading rears as soon as i can.I realize the dyn's are probably better but i got a good deal and these really shine with my rotel.

Rotel will drive four ohm speakers all day. I suspect that the techs were being a little more than conservative in their recommendation. The 1056 is used extensively in Europe with Dynaudio with no problems. Remember that a four ohm speaker can vary from three up to above eight ohms. (Maggies are an exception) My Martin Logans are four ohm rated and drop to two ohms in the last octave and i have never had a problem with the 1056. I think you will like the B&Ws but the Dynaudios are a significant step up in performance IMO.
