RP-91 and Pioneer SD-532HD5

I'm posting this here and in the DVD thread, as I'm not sure if the problem is with the player or the HDTV.

I've calibrated the HDTV using the RP-91 with the AVIA disc, but the splash screen from the RP-91 seems to be different in brightness and contrast each time I start the player. The HDTV settings (the numbers) have not changed, just the appearence of the picture. This change holds through the content portion of the disc, even after the set has warmed up. The player is hooked up throug the component inputs. I have not noticed any shift like this via the cable inputs. After I make adjusments to the settings on the HDTV for the shift in contrast/black level, the next time I try a DVD the image is too bright etc. It is a pain that the settings don't stay put.

I suspect that it is the RP-91, but I'm not sure. Anybody seen anything like this?

Thanks. Anil

I own a 532. I do not own an RP-91.

I have never seen what you described. Have you tried S-Vid from the RP-91 or tried different component inputs on the 532? I guess what I am saying is if you try different hook up combinations and possibly other TV's or DVD players you should be able to isolate the defective part of the signal chain.

Good Luck.
