I am trying to send the DTS 5.1 sound to my 6 channel input on my Denon AVR-3200, but the sound is coming out really strange. What should be the setting be on the RP91 for DTS, should it be PCM or Bitstream or are there some other settings to activate the DTS decoded sound via the 5.1 outputs.

The PCM/Bitstream option is for how the -digital- DTS data comes out of the digital outputs. You need to change the Speaker Setting to Multi-channel.

To activate the 5.1 outputs for DVD-A, DTS, and DD you need to press the Action button. Select the middle tab: Audio. This is the same place you were toggling the DTS PCM/Bitstream, but the first field on the page is Speaker Setting. Change this to Multi-channel. I'd aldo leave the DTS Digital Surround on Bitstream. The only reason to change it to PCM is if you're trying to play a DTS CD to a DTS surround receiver via a digital connection.

Good luck. I used to have a AVR-3200 too. It was a great receiver.

In this case you must choose "bitstream".-- PCM is for connection to a dolby pro logic decoder or a standard 2ch dac. Having made that choice the player mixes down the audio out to 48.BTW you get that same option choice for DD,as well.Choose bitstream for both.--Geo

The strange sound was due to not being able to see the 6 channel outputs in my A/V rack and I had them all but 2 incorrectly hooked up. I got everything setup fine now and it is sending DD/DTS to my AVR-3200. I played Behind Enemy Lines in DTS last night and it was amazing, the seperation was so much better. My receiver is 5 years old and has never given me a problem so I went the route of adding DTS via the RP91. Thanks for the help!
