I am having a problem with my JVC AV-48WP74 RPTV connected by DVI to Radeon 9600XT (WinXP Pro with Radeon 4.10 drivers). The vidcard automatically detects a 1080i monitor and sets the resolution as such(1980x1080i). But on any open windows there is severe flickering, to the point where text is unreadable (ie. in I.E.). I can switch the display to 1280x720p, which eliminates the flicker but still gives severe overscan, distortion at the edges, and is somewhat fuzzy. Using Powerstrip to shrink the display dimensions, shows the distortion. I think it may be downconverting it to 480p.
I have powerstrip and would like to run 1776x1000i in 1980x1080i timings if I could just get rid of the flickering. I have a hunch that the scan rate (vertical) of the vid card is not exactly matching the one for my display, but I'm afraid to mess with it for fear of destroying my TV. Is there anyone out there that can help or has any ideas/comments on the matter?
For reference, the rest of my system is:
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe (w/ SoundStorm audio via digital coax to receiver)
2x256MB PC2700 RAM
Sapphire Radeon 9600XT
200GB Maxtor (8MB buffer)
Windows XP Pro SP2
Catalyst 4.10 (w/Control Panels)
nForce 5.10 drivers
Any help would be appreciated
