Maybe a model number would help. Is it a direct view set or a RPTV?

RPTV noob needs help.
I recently purchased a 10 year old Sony XBR with a minor problem. The bottom half of the screen looks kind of like wood grain. I don't know what the problem is or if it can even be fixed but maybe some of you gurus can help. Attached is a picture of the screen.
