Since the HD future in NYC looks dim for the next few months, I want to install an antenna in my balcony (32nd fl). I can fit a 6-7 foot antenna on the floor of the balcony.

I saw a UHF/VHF RS antenna for $39.99 (??-90)which is 80 inches long.

1)Do you think I could pick up the signals from Connecticut (70 miles approx) or Philly (100 miles) from Lower Manhattan?

2) I will either need flat cable or the cable that passes through glass to pass the cable through my sliding doors. Anyone know online sources for these?

3) I also need to know how to anchor down the antenna so it doesnt move around (gets windy up here)

Thank you for your help in advance.

You can get the flat cables at Kmart for about 8 bucks each. Radio Shack has some longer and thinner ones for about 15.

I would suggest putting the antenna on a mast and attaching the mast to the balcony railing with U-bolts or some sort of clamp. That will keep it from moving around.

If it has to be on the floor, take some fishing line and tie it down to a few eye bolts, strategically placed on the floor of the balcony. That's what I would do.
