RSHN Alternative?

200 Views 0 Replies 1 Participant Last post by  ICE9
I'm currently using the "Radio Shack Home Network" (RSHN) for my A/V distribution and IR repeater. I have 3 recievers that talk to the 1 transmitter on my HTPC.

I have been very happy with the ease and low cost of this solution, but I seem to have issues with the IR distribution for most remotes. 2 buttons on my StreamZap don't work properly and my IR keyboard requires me to double tap keys to make them work though the RSHN. Other than these issues, it works great.

Can anyone suggest a CHEAP alternative to the RSHN. If you are not familiar with it, it is almost exactly like the Terk Leapfrog which transmits A/V and IR though existing phone lines in the house.

I have tried other IR repeaters such as the X10 Powermid and it has been a total failure. Any IR repeater which uses RF just seems to transmit continuous IR garbage to my components, and doesn't work at all with my remotes. I have now tried 2 different IR to RF extenders which have both failed completely. Both were bought from E-Bay and both were returned merchandise. It is possible that both were non-functional, but that doesn't seem likely.
