I will be remodeling part of my basement into a cozy 16' 5" x 12' HT and I am wondering if I should tear out the existing 2" x 4" stud wall and anchor the RSIC clips directly to the concrete or should I leave the studs and attach the RSIC clips to the existing studs (then hat channel, double drywall, GG, etc)

What say you RSIC and sound isolation gurus?

Others can weigh in on the topic but I think it boils down to "do you need/want the extra 3 1/2 inches of width in the room or not"?

My hunch is that you will be accomplishing the same thing either way.

Thanks guys, I figured as much but thought I'd double-check before removing them unnecessarily.
