I have noticed that a number of the Regional Sports Networks carry some HD. For instance many will have some of their local NBA games in HD this year. Is there any chance that will come to D* when the capacity increases next year? Could that be part of the 'local" networks that D* is saying they are going to bring us? Do the cable operators control those networks? (m local would be Wizards, CSN) After this past week, it looks like sports in HD is the killer application of the HD technology. The Thursday night game on ESPN, Fox Baseball, NCAA HD football, and NFL HD. I know there were some technical issues, but from the Big Picture standpoint, WOW. And actually a few good games to boot!

Anyone else have trouble switching back to an SD game? It pains me to watch the Redskins in SD (and to watch their offense) when it is blacked out for my Sunday Ticket HD. Please give me locals in HD! OTA is not available from 100 miles away! No cable option either. It's D* for me for my HD thus my questions.

I'm sure that RSN-HD is on D*'s "to do" list. The Cable Owned HD RSNs are likely to be kept off of satellite. There is a loophole somewhere that if programming is sent via satellite, then a Cable Owned channel must be made available to DBS to carriage. Well the Cable Co's have built a fiber network to keep their RSNs off of DBS. Such is the case in Philadelphia.

The HD channels haven't mattered yet since DBS systems really don't have the space for them. But they will when D* gets their birds up in the sky. Voom currently offers a Florida FSN-HD network, but that is the only one that I'm aware of.

The reason that the mid-atlantic CSN is on E* & D* is because its predecessor (HTS) was on, so its kinda grandfathered.

Thanks, very interesting. That was much more than I was able to find in my searches. I guess the HTS/CSN carriage currently won't help with the CSN HD when D* gets the bandwidth next year.

Voom has already added 2 FSN's (florida and I think ohio, not sure on ohio but i know florida is already on) in HD where neither D* or E* has even mentioned they will ever carry any of them in HD.

Last Spring D* carried one hockey game from FNS North that was available as I recall to Center Ice and local viewers. Also, D* carried early round FSN North HD coverage of Timberwolves-Nuggets playoff basketball locally in Minnesota on its special events channel.

i've seen two hockey games carried for center ice and local folks on E* as well.

Also supossedy they both carried mavericks games from HDNet on a special channel, it was hidden from me, so I dunno if it was there or not.
