I am planning a home theater in the basement. as the shown in the sketches, i have center support columns which are a small issue..

the HT room is about 15x16, basement is 26x22.

speakers are Magnepan 1.6s, cc3, mmg-s. screen will be front projection, mounted on ceiling.

the hole under the screen is where most components will go, flush with the screen and running through the wall for easy back panel access. main speaker wires will be hidden by running thru the back of the wall to speaker location.

please provide thoughts and suggestions. thanks.

I think you will find that you will get plenty support and opinions if you ask more specific questions. It's tough to reply to the "here is my basement - tell me what to do" type questions.

As you can tell from some of the threads, building a theater is an extremely detailed proposition. Start with the basics and ask questions as you develop you plan.

I've been working on mine for 2 years but I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Best of luck.

Not much you can do about the pole other than move the room or spend $$$$$ moving the pole.

Room looks good, now get started and make it happen.

+1 on what Budk said. If you have specific questions, people on the forums will help you out IF the question has not already been answered - especially repeatedly - in past posts (i.e., always search first). Don't worry that many have viewed your thread and not commented - it's only because they are probably unsure what you are specifically asking for. As an example, my build thread is fairly new, has over 1000 views, but little posts other than the ones I have updated so friends of mine out elsewhere can see progress. However, if a specific question arises and I can't find an answer by searching, people have always helped out with responses.

Good luck, and let us know what specific questions you have.

I would put a rack under the stairs rather than doing a pass through between the two rooms. Gets the flashing lights away from the screen, and any noise from the equipment out of the room. Also, might help if sound isolation is a concern.

Also, a photobucket account for images in your posts can't hurt. See link in my sig. Good luck.

+1 on the riser for the rear. I want to make sure the general plan has no major defect i may have overlooked. my goal is to put something together basic but effective... i am doing as much work as i can myself.

dont want to undo/ redo things if i can avoid it.

thanks for the opinions..
