Hi all,
I need to share this information as it is quite amazing.
Last Friday I received the long awaited Ruby. The 110" Firehawk was already mounted and I couldnâ€t wait to give it a first try.
I chose the Firehawk because the unit is in our living room with less then ideal control over the light.
Sitting on top of a few boxes the Ruby threw at the screen just over my head.
Out of the box the unit is amazing and quite an upgrade from my previous VPL-VW10HT that I left in the house we sold last year.
I was a bit surprised about the small viewing angle the Firehawk gave. Not a problem for most viewing but noticeable off axis the light dropped of quite dramatically.
Since yesterday the unit is ceiling mounted ……. Wow. Exactly 1.6 times the screen width.
The angle is much wider the light output a lot higher, fantastic.
Yes I know this is the only way Stewart advises to use the Firehawk, but the difference is BIG.
(at the NAB show in Las Vegas last month Sanyo used a Firehawk with the projector sitting on a table …… a definite no go)
For those having less control over the light in the living room/theater the Firehawk is a great choice.
