Ruby Constant Height

1149 Views 11 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Angeli662
I am a happy camper with my first constant height setup:
  • 141" wide Draper M2500 (gain 2.5, angular reflective)
  • Prismasonic 1200H
  • Ruby @ 22', ceiling mount

I sit at one screen width. The image is plenty bright. Overall, very immersive. Minimal barrel distortion in stretch mode, only noticeable when when looking at a test pattern. This lens and high gain screen are a good match for the ruby when undertaking constant height.

I will try to upload shots of my setup.

Here is the AVS forum projected in pass and stretch:
And here are two screenshots from the Italian Job DVD (HTPC/1080P/Theatertek/ffwdshow):
Glad to someone doing CH with the Ruby. Looks killer. I have the same lens and love it.

Congrats:)
Alan. I thought someone like you would have an Isco 111 ? Do you prefer the Prismasonic.

I switch between lens. Right now Im enjoying the motorized 1200H prismasonic. Its great. Same lens mrbadog is using:)

Im firing onto a curved 8 foot wide acoustic scope sound screen screen. The screen is negative gain. Im using the lumagen hdpro scaler.

My pics did not turn out as good as madogs. I still have a lot to learn about the this projector and its different settings.

Yeah!!! 16:9 is just so small, so constrained
Hi Alan how do you like the lumagen scaler
Alan I assume you have tried the Isco 111 , can you tell me what differences you have observed between the two. I read your sticky post on lense comparisons and the Isco 11 was sharper and had less CA than the Prismasonic h1000, do you think the same could be said of a Isco111 and Prismasonic 1200 comparison ?

PS love the screenshots.... thanks.
Apologize to both mrbadog & MADDOG. I got the two mixed up. I meant to reference to mrbadog pictures.

After reading your post I tried the Isco last night and there is a big difference in contrast from the Isco but I also love the motorized option with the Prismasonic, its cool and looks great. I dont know which to use now. I was content before reading your post, thanks alot:)

Your setup looks great.

I know many prefer 16x9 or do not have the option to go CH but it is a true cinematic experience.

Because they are a cylinder lens the Isco have better contrast. They are both razor sharp as well. The 1200H is no slouch. If setup properly the sub 2k lens offer a lot of value for the money. I have no problem using the prismasonic in my system with the best of the best.

Alan is there any chance that you could do an A/B with the Isco 111 and Prismasonic 1200 in the same way that you did your previous analysis and post the results ?
Hi Alen, Have you tried the Panamorph PSO U 120, and if so what are your thoughts?
