That link is to a stream in Berlin of the restored Metropolis. I dont know the whole story behind it, but apparently its been in the works for awhile. I believe the stream is still working. Anyway, a few hours after that was posted the guys at AICN received word that the film would be getting not only a DVD\\Blu-ray release but a North American theatrical release this summer. Details are still sketchy and unconfirmed, but it's exciting nonetheless to those that would care about this.
Read the rumor details and report from an inside source in Berlin, here:

I saw the hd broadcast of it yesterday and it is quite amazing. Great picture for such an old movie that shows what film could do even back then. The once lost and now edited back in scenes look pretty bad though.

Went into (limited) theatrical release yesterday and supposedly we should see a Blu-Ray of this newly restored edition in a few months.

Yeah, "limited" is right:

Michigan Theater Ann Arbor MI September 12 & 14

Coolidge Corner Theatre Brookline MA Opens June 4

The Cleveland Museum of Art Cleveland OH May 21-23

Detroit Film Theatre Detroit MI June 11-20

Cinema Arts Centre Huntington NY May 7-13

Cornell Cinema Ithaca NY June 26

Laemmle Royal Theatre Los Angeles CA Opens May 14

TCM Classic Film Festival Los Angeles CA April 25

Festival Fantasia Montreal QC July 28

Film Forum New York NY Opens May 7

George Eastman House Rochester NY June 26-27

San Francisco Silent Film Festival San Francisco CA July 16

Tampa Theatre Tampa FL August 29

There are 21 Indie movie screens in Dallas between the Inwood, the Magnolia, and the two Angelikas, and Dallas even has its own annual film festival, yet there is not a single showing of Metropolis scheduled for anywhere in the whole State of Texas.

Or the other 43 states besides Texas that it's not showing in.

Man, I was hoping there would be one in Philly at least. Not sure I want to drive to NY to see it. Guess I'll just wait for the Blu-Ray.

Unusually, there is good news, I can see it in Ann Arbor with live organ no doubt.
