DMC is big but not nearly the blow that would mean all future Resident Evil's being exclusive

This was speculated a long time ago but then again so was the MS buying Nintendo rumor and we know that never happened .

Nah. With Rare all the main programmers left way before Msoft bought them. They pretty much bought them for the name alone. Nobody cares about rare anymore. Capcom is still going strong with their old franchises and new ones as well. What did we get from rare? Those 2 horrible games on xbox, and Kameo and PD0 on 360. It's crazy how dated PD0 already looks compared to the other FPS on 360 now.

Capcom is a company of ups and downs. And rehashes and shovelware that would not make sense on the 360. No way would MS or even Sony buy them outright. It would make far more sense to pay for game exclusivity than to buy the whole company and have to pay for their less than successful games and the long periods of time between the huge hits.

Most next gen gamers own a 360. It would be far better for gamers than DMC being PS3 only

As for the theory of DMC being a system seller... that was YEARS ago. Its been eclipsed by Ninja Gaiden and God of War and its finest days are probably behind it as a series. I think DMC 3 sold half as many as DMC did despite the PS2 having tens of millions more consoles out at the time.

Eh. That isn't my main concern, considering how far in development DMC4 is and the amount of resources and money Capcom spent on the game.

Let's see...some Joe posts something on the Evil Avatar's forums. It gets picked up by 2 other sites, you conclude 3 independent sites are backing this rumor.

PDZ was originally created for the 64 and than the cube and than the XBox and it got shoved out on the 360...Same goes for Kameo...Which is why it looks dated...

I make it quite clear, both in the subject and the text body, that this is just a RUMOR. I later pick up on Gamespot's rebuttal and conclude (publicly) the whole thing is just a sham. It was something that seemed to be spreading fast, so I jumped the gun and posted it here. Whether you want to believe it or not, sometimes these things actually pan out.

This was an insider rumor in EGM/1up at least 2 months ago. Funny that it just surfaces on the internet.


I wouldn't doubt there's and interest. MS has been trying to buy Japanese development since before they launched Xbox 1 but simply haven't been able to get very much.


It would probably be a great move if they could but doubtful they can.

Microsoft bought... Rare. And they were not even an independant devloper they were owned by another console maker.

Truth be told, I'd rather have MS buy the independent houses than EA. Rare may have missed the boat with PDZero, but I have enjoyed both Kameo and Viva Pinata immensely.
