Mainly for backup, but there are other reasons to run a second HDMI. I have a second HDMI run to my projector. This is because my video does not run through my prepro. My sources run to a Lumagen and video then runs direct to the projector and only audio runs to the prepro. This means I do not get on screen display from prepro. Not really needed too much, but if I do want to see this info, I can. I just have to switch my projector input to HDMI 2. Then I can see it, but of course I do not see the video coming from the Lumagen. This required me no extra work nor money, because I had an old HDMI cable in place. The old cable would not pass 18Gbps, but since the signal on input 2 is only audio, it does not require full 18Gbps.Epson 6050UB has two HDMI & one Ethernet inputs. Since HDMI will be running from Yamaha CX-A5200 pre/pro, any reason to run second HDMI or Ethernet other than HDMI backup in case cable 1 fails. Thanks.
