You won't find Runco lovers here so you may not get good answers. But, have you seen both of these? Overall they are on par with each other so if you have your heart set on one or the other you will be the best deciding factor.

I personally might suggest you shop around a bit more (and read the AVSForum)...there are other similar, less expensive options available.

What is your room like dark or open? what size screen? what ratio screen using a lens?

I did alot of research and was told the Planar 8150 fit my situation better (10' wide 2.40 screen in dark room) than the Runco 1100ultra...have not seen them together but I think both are better picture than the dVision. Although the dVision is very bright if you need the lumens.

Room is very dark (for movies) but will also be used with doors (in back) open and lights on to watch sports. screen is 120" diag with side masking and 4:3 to 16:10 aspect ratio range (had runco 1100 ultra spec'd with cinewide w/ autoscope)

the dvision was newly recommended to me based on new testing from my dealer.

thks.

Wouldn't it be a little bright for his 120" screen at 4000lumens?

No. The lumen rating for these machines is with both bulbs going at the same time and the iris wide open. Run one bulb to begin with, with the power iris closed down to either the smallest size ( if it's still bright enough for your taste ) or where the foot lamberts are to your liking. When the first bulb dims, switch to the second new bulb. When that dims more than you like, run both bulbs. Plus, you can set the bulbs to low power, than switch to high later.

What about 3 chip? is it worth the extra $$? what would u guys recommend for a 3 chip for my purposes?

Well, I sure have been loving my SIM2 Lumis Host 3 chip projector - pretty hard to beat the picture it throws.

If you are talking about 3 chip projectors from DPI, you might want to visit the $ 20,000 + projector threads.
