These units are supposed to be shipping but it's hard to find any information on them. Don't know where you can get them other than one installer that comes up on a google search. Anyone got news?

No, on the bottom you can see where the Mitsubishi label has been peeled off

and the Runco label is stuck on top. On the remote, the Mitsubish label has been

sanded off and somone wrote Runco in marker.....

What would you like to know, if you're still interested?

Congratulations on your purchase. How does SD look on your TV? I compared a Sony 52" XBR LCD and a Pioneer Elite 50" plasma side-by-side. The plasma blew away the LCD with a standard signal broadcast. Since Runco is known to make the best displays, I'm wondering if the Runco LCD will perform similar to the Pioneer plasma, or are LCD's all similar by their nature. What do you think?

The SD picture looks very good on the Runco. I also have a 32" Sony, and the Runco

is much better at standard def than the Sony. That said, I've heard that plasmas

are extremely good at standard def. I'm still not done comparing. I have standard def

from satellite, cable, and OTA going to the Runco, but I haven't had time to compare them

carefully. Maybe it's not a fair comparsion, since the runco is 1080p and the sony is 720p.

It looks excellent from 10 ft away. If you walk right up and look at SD 2 feet away,

you can see the imperfections and fuzziness a lot. I noticed that this morning

on CNBC.

The Runco displays SD in excellent quality in 4:3 mode, anamorphic mode is good,

but running tickers on the bottom of CNN or CNBC get all weird at the corners.

Again, I want to look at all 3 content types in various modes before I say definitively.

I'm afraid I don't have enough background viewing SD on plasma to help you much.

My family has voted with their feet. They don't watch on the Sony anymore, and they

watch 99% SD content. Bottom line is the Runco is better than my Sony at SD, but

I can't give you a very good opinion how it compares to plasma.

Thanks for the detailed response! It was very helpful for me.

Runco is a company that takes the hardware from some other manufacturer (in this case the LCD panel) and then replaces and upgrades the rest of the device, namely the video processor and the electronics. They are strong on quality and on support. They tend to build products geared toward the high-end market, but do make products thet are competitive (price-wise) with more middle-market products (eg. Sony). These products also benefit from some of the components from the higher-end products. The CX-46HD is an example of a competitively priced LCD set that has superior video processing thanks to its Vivx technology. This video processing is what sets Runco apart from other companies. I suggest that you go to their website (Runco.com) to get a feel for what they offer and to find a local dealer in your area, then go and see their products and judge for yourself.

The 40" LCD costs about $300 more than the Sony XBR3, and the 46" LCD costs about $1900 more than its Sony xbr3 counterpart.

I also agree with the above in that the Runco is much superior in viewing SD broadcasts than the Sony, thanks to the video processing.
