I don't here much talk about Runco FP here. Is there a reason why, should one stay away from them? What about the Runco idp-900a. Any thing good or bad I should know about this projector?

The Runco CRT's are very high quality projectors. Runco takes a proven and well designed existing chassis, and then performs certain modifications to any weak points.


Many people in this particular forum don't believe the premium for a modified CRT is worth-while. Then again, in this forum for many... it's all about doing the tweaks yourself.


If you don't want to add/replace various resisters and/or capacitors to your projector or add color correction filters, Runco CRT's usually have this done already. There are a myriad of other modifications which vary from model to model, and can include other things such as electronic menu modifications to enhance setups.


Sorry I can't speak directly to the model you mention, but some research and someone here more familiar with that model should be able to better inform you.

Runco resells (or tweaks and resells, depending on how you look at it) OEM projectors which are far more common on the used market. As most used CRTs are coming out of commercial type establishments, not the more expensive HT-geared runco variants. Thus, Runcos around here are rare because those who have one call it by it's "real" name or whatnot, as that's what everyone knows what you're talking about.
