running computer signal through av reciever via HDMI

Hey Avs,

Im currently trying to figure out the best way to get my PC to connect to my proj through my AV Receiver.

Current Equipment:

Dell tower with x1650, dual DVI

Powerbook G4 with DVI

Onkyo 674

AX100u

LVM37w1

My preference is to run everything through the receiver so I can switch easily between devices, rather than run the Dell directly to the proj through the HDMI.

I use the Westy as my primary display.

With the Dell directly connected to the proj via DVI- HDMI:

The latest catalyst drivers (7.1) 1280 x 720 doesn't scale. The AX100u displays a 1920 x 1080 res with the 1280 x 720 centered with black bars. No matter how I mess with the CCC, it won't scale the res full screen. This also happens on the Westy.

Ive also tried running component via avivo off the vid card, but it also doesn't scale full res. There are small black bars around the edge, doesn't seem very sharp at 1280 x 720 (native res of the proj)

Has anyone had experience running PC signals through HDMI connections on AV receivers? Or getting a clean signal from component out from a Radeon card?

TIA,

dabu

So the flip side to this, after some testing, is that you CAN pass 720 or 1080 native res material through the onkyo 674. My mac laptop does it fine.

However, no matter how I connect my PC to my proj (either directly or through the receiver, with either the avivo component or dvi -> HDMI) I get small black bars around the screen.

Very frustrating.
