Just a quick question. would there be any detrimental effects to running HDMI cables along side to power lines? i'm talking about in-wall power lines for a wall outlet, and i'm only talking about a short distance. Probably no more than a 2 meter run. Would i need higher quality cables with some of that fancy shielding (ie, the more expensive ones)?

Should not be a problem, however, for safety and identification purposes, it is a good idea to add some distance between power and data cabling.

Yes, shouldn't be a problem as HDMI signals are shielded and their differential nature tends to reject outside noise.
