Russound CAV S2 controller outside?

778 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ciroman
I have everything pre-wired for patio speakers and I was just wondering if there are any issues with having this outside? It will be under a covered patio and away from weather, I am more wondering about the sunlight. Will the sun cause IR problems? Anyone have one of these outside?

Thanks.

I have 2 of these outdoors, but they are protected by weather proofboxes I got here. I probably would not just leave it out to the elements even in a semiprotected area.

Sweet thanks. Real nice theater you have there BTW...

Thanks. I did have to do a little cutting of the boxes to get them to fit and had to get some slighlty longer screws for them, but otherwise, the keypads stay in perfect condition since the box is sealed when it clicks shut.
I was also thinking of using a Uno keypad in a weatherproof box under a covered patio. I had concerns of what effect freezing temperatures would have as well as possible moisture /condensation issues with the display.

Freezing temps....sorry can't help you with that. Our temps in San Diego rarely go below the 40's and that is in our "freezing" winter nights. It's tough to live in year round 70's though. Oh well, I guess that's what the sunshine tax does to our real estate.
I have had the LCD Russound keypad outside for four years in a weather proof box with zero problems!

Michigan... Freezing Temps.... Hot Summers!!!
So your remote works OK out there?
russound doesn't recommend the uno keypads in freezing temps. But I have one on my porch and it did good from January until now.
