I just hooked up my 8300HD to my new HLP4674 via HDMI last night and received a "no signal" screen from my TV. I called Samsung who told me it was likely that the HDMI port was not "activated" on my set. When I called Adelphia, they told me that HDMI ports are not available at this time?

Can anyone confirm that this is true? From the threads I've been reading, many people are using their HDMI ports on Adelphia cable.

Can someone help me get my HDMI port active?

By the way, the set works fine with Components.

Thanks.

Adelphia is my provider (out of Buffalo, NY) and HDMI was active the day I received the SA 8300 box. Just had to purchase an DVI to HDMI adapter (since my HD set is DVI), and it worked like a champ. There are some glitches that you need to work around, such as the HDCP errors, but setting the auto power on/power off takes care of that issue.

Anyone using Adelphia in S FL (Boynton Beach, to be exact) know if they have the HDMI port activated? Calling the 800 number, they said no, but they've been wrong on nearly every question asked, so... I'd like to know before spending the money for a cable. Thanks.

Your TV definitely should have no problem with HDMI if it is activated. So it is eitherthe HDMI port on your 8300HD not activated or on an older firmware that does not work reliablely with HDMI. If it is later, you can test by turn on your TV first. Switch to HDMI input and then connect the HDMI cable to the cable box and turn on the box. If you still didn't see anything, you're out of luck and have to wait for your local cable co. get its act together and deploy new firmware to your box.
