SA-XR45 fan noise and ventilation?

I'm thinking of getting the SA-XR45, but I'm concerned about the fan in the back. Is it very quiet? I'd hate to be distracted by fan noise during movies. I've had a lot of fans in my computers, and I know that sooner or later they will go haywire and start making a big racket, especially before they warm up. Unless, of course, they are $30 a piece Pabst fans imported from Germany! Somehow I don't think Panasonic is using those. So, are my fears founded? Also, since there are no ventilation holes on top of this receiver, is it safe to place components on top if it? Is it safe to place this receiver inside a glass door TV stand with an open back? I would of course never even think of doing that with a normal receiver. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Iv'e never heard mine kick in at all. Not to say it might not, but if it does, I cant hear it. I've also felt the top of the receiver to see if/how hot it gets. It is nothing like my other receivers. The top of mine is cool to the touch. There is one warm spot, which is exactly that, warm, not hot in any terms.
