I have a 32" Phillips regular screen (not wide) HD ready tv. HD programming was recently made available by my cable provider so I ordered it and they gave me the SA3250HD. My problem is that my SD channels are displayed in a widescreen format with bars above and to side of the picture. Any ideas on what my problem may be?

Thanks in advance.

Your STB is set to output at an HD resolution so all material appears as HD to the TV, the STB is adding the sides to keep the 4:3 ratio inside the 16:9 image it's outputing. I believe with the SA boxes you can set them to output SD channels at 480i and HD to 720p or 1080i automatically, that should help with your problem.

Good thread here to read -> http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...0hd+resolution

You want passthrough with 720p disabled probably.
