I have ripped many of my cd's to WHS. I play them on my HTPC connected by SP/DIF to Onyko 505. One is a Hybrid SACD, but it shows up on the Onyko as PCM, just like the rest of the cd's.

I have read all the discussion about HD audio and protected path here for years. Am I caught up in the same limitation, or can I configure it some way to get SACD to play in VMC or Foobar.

HTPC :

ASUS M3A78 EM /onboard audio.

Vista

Thanks

It's impossible to rip the DSD audio from an SACD. There is not software (to my knowledge) that will play or even understand the format. The only way to play the SACD's DSD you'll need a standalone SACD player or an old PS3.

So, no dvd drive will play it. No software.
