Hi everyone. Ok new house is under contract as is our house to be sold. Will be in the new digs by august 1st and here is my space for HT names for my 7 week old daughter Sadie and my 3 yr old son Max ❤

BEFORE:

COMPLETE!!! 4/11/15 (1 month 2 weeks after build start)

Updated: 10/16/15 finished chair rail and floorboards

updated: 11/1/15 added lattice on columns

love it!!

It's 100% light controlled since the windows are behind this area.

It measures 11.5' from left framed wall to foundation x 15' deep (to first window which will not be in the room after frames off). The ceiling is 7.5' except where hvac is it is 6.5' (plan on pitying soffit around it)

I plan on a 130" AT 2.35 screen using my already purchased panny ae8000

Any thoughts and input will be greatly appreciated as I build this (my first build if any kind) I have lots of help as my father in law builds houses for his living. It will be slow going but immediately I will be building a false wall to hold the speakers and screen

4/1

COMPLETE!!! 4/11/15 (1 month 2 weeks after build start)

Update: so we have moved everything in the house even though not closed on most likely this week (builder was nice enough to let us do that) bought two ht recliners for 300$ on CL. Also got my at screen material in the mail Saturday. So as soon as we close I will be measuring and building the screen. Hoping for 120" wide 2.35. Not sure the 13-14' ft throw will get it there.

Stay tuned :)

Screen wall to heads not reclined is 12'

here is a crude to scale mockup of what im thinking...the french doors will most likely be nixed due to bad soundproofing properties...can anyone recommend a better free mockup program?

Terrible cell phone pic. But here is a crude Test to find tha a 120" 2.35 screen will be ideal. I'll be getting materials to build it tomorrow. Just now need to make some makeshift temp speaker stands for behind the AT screen

Good luck! Hope to be building mine out soon! Gotta sell our current house first. We've already bought the land for the new house to be.

Thanks! And congrats on the new build soon

Selling a house is stressful especially since you already bought land. Be patient and get what you want for it. It will sell for what you need :)

I have a detailed thread for my DIY screen that may help. This is a great community we will help you get er done. How far under the the soffit that you are building for HVAC are you going. All this needs decoupled with IB3 clips if you want to go sound proofing. Why would you want screen wall where all the utilities are? what does the other half of the basement look like there may be a better place. I also detailed my window plug. Good luck

Brian,
It looks like you have a nice space to work with. Maybe a sketch of the proposed layout on a piece of paper will be helpful until you can get the google sketch up going.

Good Idea. I'll try to do that today :)

Unfortunatly it's the only spot in the basment my wife will let me have ( the rest will be a fourth bedroom suite for visitors). I will be leaving them all behind the screen wall with a utility door. So it will kind if be like a 3 wall theater. :/ it's all about compromises. Right?!
