As an owner of a HD movie player, I enjoy AVS for both the debates and the information. With that said, I've noticed lately a lot of threads in the dedicated format forums start about some informative topic and decline into a HD-DVD vs. Blu-ray thread, especially in the software forums. I personally would like to see just information about my format in the dedicated forums and leave the debating to this forum. I believe that would be the best way to let people get information on their particular format as well as for new visitors to get information on either format. Both have 2 forums and they are clearly labeled so people can find their way to them.
To my point. I propose the following:
Don't post to one of the dedicated forums (Blu-ray software, Blu-ray hardware, HD-DVD hardware, HD-DVD software) unless you have something GOOD or INFORMATIVE ( not inflamatory informative) about that particular format. While you may feel someone is being a "fanboy," it's OK for someone to be excited about their purchase and want that format to succeed. If you want to debate their point, bring it here and leave their original thread alone.
I honestly think this is best for the forums and for each format. Everyone has a "safe haven" to be excited about their format and also there's a central place to post debates and get the perspective of the other format's supporters.
So, as the original poster, I pledge to abide by my own proposal.
Cheers and enjoy your HD!
