Looks like our action star Statham is cranking em out like fast food burgers but that's fine with me. Right after the Killer elite in sept, comes Safe in Oct with another action thriller. Then after that will be another action thriller Parker... dir by Taylor hacford who did one of my favs The Devil's Advocate. The guy is Mr action and his films are very entertaining so Im fine with it just as long they don't get cheap and his career doesn't end up like Van Damme...that would be not be good.

I'm ready to see him play some other roles. I mean, he's great at what he does and all, but I'd really like to see him be more than just an action grunt. Look at his roles in Snatch, Revolver, and London and you can see he definitely has more potential than derivative roles like this.

The character he played in Revolver is pretty much the same thing he's done with crank, transporter, mechanic. etc etc. The victim done wrong action hero looking for revenge with a .45...sound familiar?

When a studio finds a cash cow action star, they're going to milk him until there's nothing left.

This list needs to be updated. There's many more recent ones, too.

I will continually pass on Jason Statham movies.

Yeah, and I'm sure we all are shakily awaiting for all the updates, that no doubt will add to our boring lives, and lift our spirits.

I had the misfortune to watch this turkey last night. This might appeal to those who like shoot-um up video games but it's pretty lackluster and one note as a movie.

Is The Bank Job the only decent movie Statham has been in?

I like the Transporter series, and Snatch, and The Italian Job, and War with Jet Li, and of course the recent Expendables franchise, even The Mechanic wasn't too bad. I was looking forward to Safe, pity!

^ ^ ^ That's a pretty comprehensive list there that looks like his film resume and seems more than "some"
. I just watched it last night and it was pretty good. It started out kinda like a cable movie with cardboard characters like that old chinese goon boss that you've seen in every chinatown mob movies ( btw can't they find another old asian guy besides him? ).

The plot got really thick and heavy in the end but overall if you like his stuff then you'll like this. I thought it was better than the Mechanic and 100x better than Killer Elite which I didn't like at all...YMMV.

JS seems to be a modern day Eastwood or Bronson or, possibly, Willis.

Gritty, foul-tempered, a none-orater, quick on the trigger....very much Old School.

Yeah, he's very much a workhorse action movie actor.

Although to be fair, Eastwood attempted to break out of that typecasting. He eventually negotiated that for every Dirty Harry film, he would be able to do something like Play Misty for Me. And now he directs and acts in dramas mostly.

Bronson, on the other hand, well, I knew an actor who had done some work with him, and I asked him what he (Bronson) was like. He replied, "like cement." Just a wall to bounce lines off of. Which in some ways was fine for his characters.

Our views may differ but War was not one of JS better films to most of his fans so if you like that then it's safe to say you would enjoy Safe as well. If you liked War with Jet and don't intend on seeing Safe based a few bad reviews then that would be a big mistake. You know eventually down the road you'll see it one way or another and be upset you waited that long.

I am very much looking forward to JS next film "Parker" due out in Jan which is dir by none other than the great Taylor Hackford who did one of my all time fav Devil's Advocate. JS will costar with J-Lo in this one so this looks like it's shaping up to be one of his better ones.

James Hong, the quintessential Chinese actor, 82 years old. For me his most memorable roles were in Big Trouble in Little China and Blade Runner. Long history in acting going back to the mid 50's, he's pretty much done it all. However I agree, he was wasted in this part - a cartoon villain anyone could have done.

I watched Safe last night and it crossed its T's and dotted its I's as far a Statham actioner is concerned. But the storyline was too convoluted to be believable. A good rental but not worthy of adding to my JS collection.

I wonder how much does JS make per film? He has such a cushy job, basically he makes about 3 films a year and they're pretty much the the same guy with a gun. I mean how easy is that. Cruise and Bale they have to contend with a different character, lose weight/gain weight, go into training, get into character, and do that all over for a new film

But JS can do these roles now in his sleep, and he doesn't even have to shave most of the time. God, I would love to have a job like this. Talk about job security..

Bale and Cruise are not experts in martial arts like JS. They need make up, clever scripts and special cinematography to make them appear as tough guys. Cruise for most part, like Brad Pitt made his mark playing the pretty boy roles. Now once these guys start getting older and fatter they can't play those roles in anymore, so they have to cross over into the tough guy genre, where they can't compete with a guy like JS. He makes manly man movies.

Bale is a really talented actor, he is above JS and Cruise in that regard, he is true actor, not a pretty boy or a tough guy.

Wait,,come again. Cruise and Bale are not marital arts experts? Guess you're not familiar with Equilibrium or the Batman films. Bale has done more fighting in those films than JS and keep in mind JS needs uses a gun not martial arts. And as for Mr Cruise, guess you haven't seen any of MI films either. Looks like you have some catching up to do,..start with Equilibrium and I'm sure you'll rescind your post.
