Safe mode runs your computer with minimal drivers. Therefore, the PC can't send the HDTV the custom resolutions and timings it needs to work. Sending the HDTV improper timings can result in serious damage.

Oh, I understand now. Has anyone damaged their HDTV's as of yet this way? I'm curious to how long you need to neglect it to cause the damage. Like if I accidentally booted into safe mode, would it get damaged immediatelY?

I don't think it would hurt it as safe mode is 480p and according to Mark Rejhon recent repost it should not be a problem.

I agree with Mike, 640x480 shouldn't be a problem for RPTV's that support 480p, as long as the refresh rate is 60hz (which it is in Safe Mode). Heck, my Mits even has a VGA input on the back specifically for 640x480 computer resolutions.
