I do go on here once in a while mostly to read, yes I am a lurker. I do have the million dollar question, What TV should I buy!!! Here is some info


I have now a 34 wide CRT (Sony) that does not have a 480 input only 720 and 1080, so the cable is a little pixilated.


Also I have a Tivo, and Samsung progressive DVD player, I mainly watch cable and some movies, mostly Tivo though, and HD channels (Comcast), and Yes this is for everyday use, putting the Sony in the basement.


I was looking for a 42 Plasma ( 9-11 feet of viewing ) I was looking at the panny's but the new ones only have 480 and 1080 and no 3:2 pull down, and though it has the cable card slot I probably not use it because you can not use on demand with it. Though I do like the internal HD antenna.


My question is this the right one or is there better ones out there, is it that important to have the 720 (probably not going to hook up the computer, but will hook up PS2, and what about the 3:2 is that important ( saw thread ) looking to spend under 4. I just want a good picture for cable, movies, HD channels, and DVDs, I guess that is what everyone wants....Thank you .......

If you don't need the tuner, get the commercial model Panasonic plasma instead, it supports 720p format input. Though 720p format input is only really needed for 720p HD XBOX games, since the internal tuner supports 720p and external HD STBs can convert 720p to 1080i format.
