Sammy 1200 does not play POTC 3 or Yuma 3:10

Buyer Beware! If you have the Sammy 1200, like I do, better stick to HD-DVDs (if you have a choice) till this whole BD fiasco settles down... or plonk down $500 for another player that will probably be unable to read BD discs by this time next year, since the format changed yet again (profile 2.312 or whatever).

These BDs should come with a warning label....

Yeah, go HD-DVD

Until the imminent
firmware update, just rent the SD version and upconvert if you have to see the new movies right now.

When has there been a Samsung that didn't have problems?? They have shoddy QC it seems to me.

The Panny BD30, for it's small stumbles, seems a much more robust tabletop player aside from the usually stellar PS3.

Hmmm, don't understand your logic at all. You can play those movies after you get the next firmware upgrade in a few weeks and this is free. Why would you buy another BR player? And why on earth would you buy an HD-DVD player and HD-DVD media when its days are clearly numbered? Just cool your jets and when you upgrade your firmware all will be well. Sure, it's annoying but other than the firmware upgrades my BD-P1200 performs brilliantly.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend (although I'm not sure how I seemed to have done that), just letting you know my own experience which has been I really like the performance and picture quality I get out of my 1200. Sure, the firmware upgrades have been a little annoying but outside of that I have nothing to complain about, and this unit truly outperforms a couple of other BR players I've tried (including the 1400 believe it or not).

Why don't you tell that at the HD DVD Software forum, we are Blu and we don't care. Nobody told you to save pennies and sacrificing comfort.

I see PS3 as the best Blu player available, and Sony always has PS3 on it's mind when finalizing Blu-Ray profiles.
Get one yourself, sell your Sammy and get a Station.

I thought everyone knew that the 1200 was a better player than the 1400 which is missing the Reon chip.
I just got it and I hit play and it sits at counter 00:00:00:00.

Anyone else?
Sammy 1400 does just fine with them

Plays fine in my 1200 and there are no reports of widespread problems with FN. Really, all the 1200 compatibility issues are discussed in technicolor in the 1200 hardware thread.
