Sammy LN-T4065F LCD and Xbox Elite

Hello;

I have a LN-T4065F and a Xbox Elite connected via HDMI. The problem that I have is that the screens will sometimes turn green. This will last for a second or so, but you can still see the picture(or game) only that is green
. There are two other problems, the first I will lose the audio(this has happened a couple of times) since I have the Elite(Nov 07) and finally last night I lost the picture and the tv was on, and on the left side the HDMI Input label was shown. To solve this two problem I have to turn off the tv and back on. First I tought that it was the Xbox so I rebooted the console and nothing happenned, just turn off the tv.

So okay last week I performed the software update on the Sammy, but the problem are still there.

The Xbox is set at 1080P, and I was using an Xbox premium before via the VGA connection with no problems at all. Maybe is a hand shake problem between the console and the LCD Hdmi's?

Have you updated your Tv set? I believe you have HDMI handshake issues. If you upgrade your Tv's firmware, it should fully fix this. IF that's the handshaking issue. Which I'm sure it is.
In addition to the firmware update keep in mind that HDMI is a fragile connection and the fact is has no error correction built in and if you are familiar with networking principles at all if issues occurs with the movement of data it can replicate loss of audio or a freeze up or loss of picture - without error correction these events can replicate though is should not be as regular as you suggest so as Shin suggested check for any firmware updates in the owners thread.
Yeap I updated it last week but the problem still there. I was reading tne gigantic post about this, well I guess I'm calling Sears Service, I didn't notice this problem because I wasn't using the HDMI until I bought the Xbox Elite last November. That's the only source that I have with HDMI, because my Dish Networks VIP-622 has a problem with Hdmi too and I'm still fighting with Dish to get an exchange. So I guess that with this data I can get an exchange.

Note: I did the software update using the last version posted in this forum.

Thanks for your replies

Tom

Have you tried the other HDMI inputs? Does the problem appear with each input?

You may be using a cheap cable! Use a really good cable around $125.00 ~ $200.00. If you want to see good quality picture you really need good signal/good connector.

Don't listen to him, those overpriced cables are one of the biggest rip offs you will ever find. Monoprice cables work just as well as the expensive ones.
I think I have also seen the green screen with my XBox Elite on my HannsG 28" monitor. I turned the monitor on and then off again and it went away. I forget whether I was using the HDMI connection or the component though when it happened.

I seriously doubt it was the cable seeing how just toggling the power on the monitor corrected the problem.

Someone listened to their local store customer service rep. This is ridiculously wrong, as penny cables are just as good as diamond cables. It's all digital. The only time expensive cables would pay off is if you're expecting to have an extremely long cable, and mostly once 1440p comes out.

If you're looking at 6ft or something where your system will be in the SAME room, just get the cheap cables.

My cheap hdmi cable works just as good as a $100 cable I purchased at BB.

Don't worry I've been through this road before. Actually I'm using the HDMI cable that M$ included with the Xbox Elite. And actually my I do have an HDMI cable from Monoprice, a Monster Cable which was mistakenly marked for $14.99 at Rat Shack
, also 3 more that I bought on ebay for a couple of dollars and I tested all of them, the problem persists.

So after spending a good portion of my afternoon and night reading about this problem, the problem is the LCD. So I called a friend at Sears, I have to meet with the manager, who used to be my boss when I worked there for 11 years. So I'm crossing my fingers when I talked to her tomorrow. I may ended up getting a 4081 because I wont get this same tv if it has the same board. Maybe a 46" because the price tag on those LCD are down.

$15.00 cable is a POS! Get a highend cable. I wonder why people get so much problems with their video or audio. I cannot believe you guys pay lots of money for a good monitor and use a POS HDMI cable. Remember, trash in trash out. The monitor just display what it can receive in. A cheap cable does not transfer all the info that your monitor needs to display a good image. I had a friend with a similar problem like yours and the problem got fixed by replacing the cheap HDMI cable with a better kind. Of course your problem still could be something else, but still you can improve your image but getting a better cable.

The monitor could act strange if is not receiving the proper signal to work normal.

That is not true. I have shown to people the difference and overtime those cheap cables show their limitations. Believe me, I do have experience.
I use sub $10 HDMI cables from monoprice for every HDMI connection I have. No problems with any of my 56" Samsung DLP/42" Westy LCD/Onkyo 605/PS3/360 over HDMI. The only time I had an issue is with the hannsg monitor and the green screen only happened once and that might have been component and not the HDMI, I just dont remember which one I had hooked up at the time. IMO judgmentday can buy expensive cables all he wants but that's just plain bad judgment.

I've done the same thing only the opposite as you. Using a $5 monprice cable and a $150 Monster cable, no difference.
There is no difference on a digital cable like HDMi unless you're going for something like a 50ft cable, in which SOME signal drop MAY occur under extreme conditions.

Most cables you see in stores are around 6ft. Get the cheap ones.
Well actually I got tired of this issue and called my friend at Sears. Last Saturday I went to the store to get a replacement. They gave me a LN-T4071F, and to my surprise the new unit was $256 cheaper than when I bought the 4065. So I got the credit.

Well this new LCD is working pretty good, watched Transformers on HD-DVD(Xbox360), and with that Disc, I always had the problem with the picture going black, and the only way to fix it was to turn off and on the tv. No problems so far with games, like lost of audio in COD4 and blackouts with Rock Band.
