The product mentioned is the SME-32HD5, not the 34.

Since I bought my SME-34WHD5 a few months back, and since

the letter is dated end-of-2000, one would assume that

either the problem was unique to the 32 or has been

corrected in the recent 34 models.

Interesting. You just saw mention of this on Thursday??

I read in the paper Thursday that SAMPO HDTV's are being recalled due to excessive radiation leakage. The article stated that it was basically all of them, but the total number was small. I don't have any further details but I would suggest you call your dealer if you have one of these sets.

Might be old news but here is a link... http://www.fda.gov/foi/warning_letters/m4950n.pdf

This doesn't sound good...Has Sampo been in touch with anyone regarding this issue? Has anyone been in touch with THEM????

Seeing as how since Mike disappeared it got even harder to get hold of Sampo. They still have yet to take away the unit that darkens my room.

Bobby is getting his mailed back to him all fixed up... so Sampo says.

....so they say...

I'll let ya know if it's fixed... they'll definetely know if it's not. I tried my best to get my money back but they didn't/wouldn't help me there. If my set isn't fixed, I guess I'll just ask for a new set that doesn't exhibit the problems... what more can I do? We shall see.

The article in the paper stated that they are essentially in violation because they have not done anything and were not supposed to bring in any new sets nor sell any. The article did say they disclaimed the problem existed except with the cover of the set off.

I did.

I'm sorry not to have more details, it didn't hit me when I was reading the article. It was either in the Boston Globe or the Patriot Ledger here in eastern Mass. I think it was off the wire though, so perhaps a web search would find it in some other location.
