So I have searched, and there does not appear to be a thread about this TV yet, so I figured I would start one.

It appears to be a 2014 plasma from Samsung, in 64inch, no 3d and no smarts.

The interesting part is that some sources are indicating that it has the same panel as the 2013 F8500, at a price quite a bit lower then the 2013 F5500. However, that doesn't seem to be unanimous. (EDIT: Apparently it has the same "Pro black panel" as the F8500, meaning the anti reflective filter for improved contrast, and NOT the F8500s brighter image panel. So it theoretically should be much better in a bright room then the former f5300 f5500, but not as bright as the F8500.)

Website created by Value Electronics that makes the F8500 claim http://pn64h7000.com/

and finally, http://reviews.*******************.com/samsung-plasma-tv/samsung-pn64h5000.html which claims the pq is decent but no mention of the f8500 panel.

I'm inclined to believe Value Electronics but man that price is low for an f8500 panel. Claims to be shipping 2/24/14. What do you guys think? Has anyone found any more info?

I saw that, doesn't mention anything about using the pro black panel or anti reflective coating though. Only Value Electronics has claimed that so far. Think its true?

If it has the 8500 panel and coating and is prices like the 5500, will be instant buy for me. I doubt that is the case but crossing my fingers!

Just heard from the owner at Value Electronics, he says it has the same anti reflective pro black coating as the 8500, but NOT the same panel. So it will be dimmer then the 8500, but might have the same contrast? Still very interesting, as that is the only real bad part of the f5300/f5500 series.

Yeah, that makes a lot more sense. The filter could help in a lighted environment.

This year's H5000 series incorporates Samsung's well respected Real Black Pro filter taken from the F8500, the Real Black Pro filter improves black levels and creates bolder color and higher contrast.

is from their website. Seems to be a very long typo.

Good to hear Samsung will continue to produce plasmas for 2014. And glad to hear the 7000 series is returning. Hopefully a return to top tier quality at a more affordable price point. The F8500 was a bit beyond my budget and the E7000 previously at $999 was more reasonable. But I wonder why no G series instead of H? Seems like G would follow F. And I wonder if there will be a G4500 720 version on the low end, or a G8500 on the high end? Perhaps they are reducing models and narrowing the price point.

In Korean consumer electronics, what letter comes after "L"? :)

...and also a pretty good chance next year's series will be J instead of I.. because of that certain competitor in the smartphone market.

The pdf samsung brochure attached to the abt page makes no mention of the filter. History also suggests that a filter only went as low in the line-up as the e6500 (the c590 may have a also had a diluted filter).

If the h5000 does, it will sell as well as the s64 panaonic series did.

Does anyone know if the 60" will be a Pentile display like the F5300 and F5500?

Well, seeing as there is only going to be one size available for the H5000, (that is 64 inches) I'm assuming you're asking about the H7000. While it could be a possibility if Samsung is hell-bent on cost-cutting, I doubt it as the price saving won't be too great compared to the F8500 to warrant the F5300/F5500 type of pentile tech going into the H7000.
